I’m fascinated with the body.   As I study the body’s form and function I’m drawn to its peculiarities and amazing capabilities.   I am also captivated by the connection of the psyche to the well-being of the body.  It is the combination of the emotional, spiritual and the physical that make it a wondrous mystery to investigate.

I am endlessly interested in the delicate balance within the body systems.   For example, there is a negative and positive pull of electrons in the body that keeps each cell contained.  Another is the strength of the forces within the body, such as, the heart’s ability to completely recirculate the blood every 20 seconds.   The psychological impact on the body is also remarkable.   Studies show placebos work as effectively as antidepressants in cases of depression.   PET scans show physical changes in the brains of patients who feel positive about their medication.

Studying the perfectly functioning body lead me to examine the consequences of decease and the spiral toward old age and death.  In the end, the cause of all death is the body’s inability to bring oxygen and glucose to the cells.

My work manifests these interests as meditations on healthy and compromised body systems.   I celebrate the wonders with a nod to the recognition of the inevitable.  My work includes installations, sculptures and jewelry. I employ a variety of materials; sterling silver, bronze, gold, plastics, industrial foam and industrial felt to support my explorations.
